WHO ARE WE

A passion and inspiration turned into reality by founder couple Pushpalatha and Chidananda when they
started their journey together. They have always wanted to bring your dreams to life. Having started in
2010, with a decade plus of experience Design Elements has not just put things into your homes or
offices, but rather crafted a way of living. Design elements is all about connecting you daily with
inspiration and creativity, and creating new experiences.

Co-founding a startup requires people willing to roll with the punches while working together in harmony -a lot like a marriage, some would say. And for couples, who have started a business together, managing a professional and a personal relationship while growing a startup can be challenging.

Founder and Co-founder of interior design startup Design Elements, Chidananda, and his wife Pushpalatha started working together even before their marriage. Maybe that made work-life balance more manageable.

The founders had been good friends in college. They co-founded an architecture and design firm, and Pushpalatha worked with other design companies before setting up this venture in 2011.

Chidananda had a lot to learn on the job, about managing a relationship at home and in the office. Initially, the projects were divided among themselves since they were both trained designers. But with time, they realized that each of them has strengths and it’s best to play by them. Latha is patient, good at designing, and better with people, while Chidananda prefers to stick with execution and strict timelines.

Chidananda now handles the “big picture stuff” such as new projects, growth, and strategy, while Latha focuses on designing, company culture, and operations. At home, though, they often tend to switch roles. “At home, I’m more disorganized but extremely patient. In a way, that is how the balance happens” says Chidananda.
